The original Octatrack quickly became an industry standard for sampling and sequencing, both live and in the studio. Now, the new enhanced MK2 version takes the art of sampling one step further! In this course, we take a deep look at the Octatrack MK2 and explain how to best use this marvelous piece of music technology.
This machine is one which comes with an intimidating repuatation of a very steep learning curve and living in its own world of cryptic terminology. Over the course of the 3 modules we will demystify the Octatrack and leave you ready to create your own orinigal music using it.
In this course, we take a deep look at the Octatrack MK2 and explain how to best use this marvelous piece of music technology.
We start with an overview of the Octatrack's structure, where you learn about projects, banks, patterns, track machines, etc. Starting with a fresh template,we deep into sampling. You discover how to record, edit and slice your samples, and how to do step & live sequencing. You also learn to create interesting and unpredictable patterns with Elektron's sequencer condition options, how to do live looping, resampling, and more!
We start the course by going over the Octatrack's hierarchical structure, where you learn about sets, projects, patterns, banks, scenes, parts, and the different machine types. After covering Elektron's outstanding step sequencer, we then dive deep into sampling, editing, timestretching and slicing audio.
Then, you learn how to add depth to your sound with the built-in effects and LFOs, how to do resampling, and how to twist (or completely destroy) the audio using the crossfader. But the Octatrack is not for the studio only... In this course, you will also find lots of useful tips and tricks for performing live!

The course is split into three modules and their is a project submisssion at the end of each of them. One of our tutors will review your work and provide you with invaluable feedback on any areas you need to improve or focus on.
